15-year-old from Bogovinje hospitalized in Tetovo with gunshot wound to abdomen
Father and a 16-year-old relative handed over a pistol; the juvenile suspect is detained and an investigation is under way.
A 15-year-old boy from the village of Bogovinje was admitted to the Clinical Center in Tetovo with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, police said. The case was reported to the Tetovo regional police yesterday.
Later the boy's father and his 16-year-old son went to the police station and handed over a pistol with an empty magazine. Authorities said preliminary information from the family indicates the shot was fired accidentally.
Investigation and measures
According to the father's statement, the bullet was discharged unintentionally from a pistol that his minor son had been carrying. Investigators conducted an on-site inspection in the presence of a prosecutor from the Public Prosecutor's Office Tetovo and representatives of the Center for Social Work Tetovo.
The injured teenager remains in hospital under medical care. The younger suspect has been detained for further proceedings while police collect evidence and interview witnesses to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
Authorities said they will take all necessary actions to fully investigate the case, after which an appropriate criminal report will be filed.
