31 wildfires recorded in 24 hours — five still active, one under control
Five wildfires remain active, one controlled and 25 extinguished after 31 incidents were recorded between August 28 and 29.

The Center for Crisis Management reported that between August 28 and August 29, until 7:30 a.m., authorities recorded a total of 31 wildfires across North Macedonia; five remained active, one was put under control and 25 were fully extinguished.
Most serious blaze in Studenicani and Zelenikovo
The largest active fire is burning on the border of the municipalities of Studenicani and Zelenikovo, consuming mixed forest along the Morane – Vrtekica – Ramni Gaber stretch, with a branch moving toward Paligrad and in the direction of Preslap. Local teams are prioritizing containment of that front.
Another active incident is near Kopanica in the Saraj municipality; that fire is advancing toward Radusha and affects low vegetation and forested areas. Smaller active fires were also reported above Nezhilovo in Caska municipality, near Kopance in Jegunovce, and in the cadastral area of Crnilishte in the Prilep municipality.
Officials said the fire that began near Trnovo in the Gostivar municipality and spread toward Bitovo, Zagrad and Strajane on the territory of Makedonski Brod has been brought under control.
During the past 24 hours crews extinguished 25 fires in multiple municipalities, among them Strumica, Ohrid, Prilep, Shtip, Tetovo, Gostivar, Delchevo and Berovo.
The Center for Crisis Management continues to monitor conditions on the ground and issued an appeal for increased vigilance because of the ongoing risk of new fires and rapid spread of existing ones in open areas.
