Katerina Acevska arrives in Abu Dhabi, fully prepared for World Jiu‑Jitsu Championship 2026
Weigh-in tomorrow, fights begin the following day; her coach says the Paris foot injury is healed and aims to repeat the Bangkok bronze.
Katerina Acevska and her coach arrived in Abu Dhabi today to take part in the 2026 World Jiu-Jitsu Championship. The team said they will use the first days to adapt before the competition begins.
The official weigh-in is scheduled for tomorrow, with the fights starting the day after that.
Her coach on preparation and expectations
“We have two days for acclimatization and rest. Despite the scorching temperature, Katerina’s mood and health are at the highest level. I first wish that Katerina has no injury, the foot injury from Paris is completely healed. Then I would be satisfied if we repeat the success from the last World Championship in Bangkok, Thailand where Katerina won third place the bronze medal, in addition the first medal for North Macedonia from a World Championship. We expect fights against representatives from Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkey, Morocco, a new challenge for us. Because of instability in the Middle East some European countries also cancelled their participation which of course gives us a greater chance for a medal. Every result and every point is welcome because of the World ranking and retaining the top position on it.
“I consider that Katerina is physically and mentally prepared for this new challenge and now it remains for the day of fights to come; our strategy is ready and we hope for success and to climb the podium again.”
The coaching staff highlighted that the healed foot injury from Paris removes any doubts about her fitness, and that maintaining points on the world ranking is an important objective alongside fighting for a medal.
