Adidas unveils farewell black jersey for Germany

Adidas has created a final kit for the Germany national football team as the long-standing equipment partnership draws to a close. The move comes with the teams' supplier contract running until the end of 2026, after which Nike will take over.

Farewell design in black

The commemorative shirt is dominated by black, a deliberate choice from Adidas to mark the end of a relationship that lasted seven decades. Few expected that the German team would ever don a different manufacturer's kit, making this send-off notable both in color and symbolism.

The agreement between Germany and Adidas has been in place for 72 years; it is set to expire at the close of 2026. From 2027 the national side will wear Nike equipment under the new deal.

The announcement was published with the timestamp 04.09.2026 16:00. The black farewell jersey is positioned by Adidas as a final tribute to the collaboration.

In a separate note included with the original item: "Previously he won the World Cup with Spain, and at 31 decided to retire from the national team".
