Aerodrom (Skopje): vandalized metal waste bin found on promenade

Photographs sent by a resident show a metal street waste bin brutally broken and bent on a pedestrian promenade in the Aerodrom neighbourhood of Skopje. The container is deformed to the point that it has lost its shape and function and now stands as an eyesore along the walkway.

Residents demand a quick fix and tougher measures

The images, received via a Facebook inbox, prompted calls from neighbours for the municipality to replace the damaged bin as soon as possible. Locals say the incident is part of a wider, persistent problem of urban vandalism that affects public hygiene and neighbourhood comfort.

“Every day we try to keep the neighbourhood orderly and more civilized, but scenes like this always set us back three steps. What kind of awareness is this; how are you not ashamed to destroy something that is for the common good? This is not only damage to the municipal budget, but a picture of our culture,” says the outraged Aerodrom resident who sent the photos to our Facebook inbox.

People in the area urge municipal services to act quickly to restore the equipment and restore normal use of the promenade. They also ask law enforcement and local authorities to step up surveillance and enforcement so that those who damage public property are held accountable.
