Afrim Gashi: I am convinced there will be no early elections
Gashi told reporters his view rests on "political intuition" and outlined coordination on the Electoral Code, stalled fair-representation law and upcoming Assembly business.
Afrim Gashi, the president of the Assembly of North Macedonia, said on Monday he is convinced there will be no early elections.

Asked what underpins that conviction amid recent public statements about snap polls, Gashi answered that it comes from his "political intuition." He made the remark during the regular Monday briefing with journalists.
Gashi reported on a routine coordination meeting with the chairs of parliamentary groups in the Assembly. He said a representative of Levica raised the issue of the Electoral Code in light of comments circulating about possible early elections, and that it would be useful to continue talks if the Assembly working group and the group coordinators are ready to resume discussions.
Regarding the law on fair representation, which remains stalled in the Assembly "due to a blockade of badenterot and DUI," Gashi said he is in contact with party leaders but denied that Ali Ahmeti, the leader of DUI, was among those he had spoken with.
Gashi also announced that a session of the Commission for Foreign Affairs will soon be convened so that newly accredited ambassadors can present their priorities. At the coordination meeting, participants requested that the Government consider the issue of certain ministers’ absences at sessions for opposition and parliamentary questions, and asked that the date for the question session be moved because the prime minister will be in New York on 24 September for the UN General Assembly.
He added that the 12th plenary session is due to resume tomorrow and that continuations will be scheduled for the 73rd, 94th and 100th Assembly sessions.
