Agency for Food and Veterinary clears illegal sellers from Bit Pazar; 150 kg expired meat found in Čajle
The Agency for Food and Veterinary and municipal and state inspectors cleared unauthorised stalls in Skopje and destroyed 150 kg of expired meat found in Čajle.
In the early morning hours today, the Agency for Food and Veterinary (AFV) carried out a coordinated inspection targeting unauthorised street sellers along Krste Petkov Misirkov Boulevard between the Mavrovka shopping centre and Bit Pazar in Skopje.
Teams from the AFV worked alongside municipal inspectors of the City of Skopje, inspectors from the State Market Inspectorate and officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs to clear all illegal stalls. Most of the removed stands were selling fruit and vegetables.
Authorities confiscated approximately 500 kilograms of food, the majority consisting of agricultural produce, and dismantled all sales equipment that had been placed on pedestrian and bicycle paths. Municipal inspectors of the City of Skopje will impose the appropriate misdemeanor measures on the offenders.
Seizure in Gostivar: expired meat destroyed
Separately, in a joint operation with the Gostivar Police Department (SVR Gostivar), official veterinarians from the AFV on a private property in the village of Čajle seized 150 kilograms of meat that was past its sell-by date, lacked proper labelling and had an unknown origin.
The seized meat was safely destroyed at the Rusino landfill. The AFV said the action formed part of wider efforts to remove unauthorised sales and to protect public health.
