Eintracht Frankfurt tops CIES list with €527m rise in player value
CIES analysis ranks Eintracht Frankfurt top with a €527 million net increase in player value over the past five years.

Eintracht Frankfurt tops a recent CIES ranking as the club whose players have recorded the largest increase in market value over the past five years, reaching a net positive balance of €527 million.
Of that total, €293 million comes from the increased value of players who have since left the club, while the remaining €234 million represents the estimated rise in value of players still on Eintracht’s books.
Close race with Real Madrid and familiar names in the top 10
Real Madrid follows closely with €526 million — just €1 million behind Eintracht — and is succeeded by Paris Saint‑Germain (€490m), Benfica (€488m) and Manchester City (€447m). The top ten list also includes Stuttgart, Villarreal, RB Leipzig, Union Saint‑Gilloise and Atalanta.
The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) produced the analysis by comparing the transfer fees clubs paid to acquire players with the income from selling those players, or with the players’ current estimated market value if they remain at the club.
The CIES study covers developments in the transfer market over the last five years and highlights how some clubs, particularly Eintracht Frankfurt, have generated substantial value through player trading and development.
