Bayern Munich would be prepared to move for Florian Wirtz if Liverpool ever decided to sell, Christian Falk said while commenting on the German international’s sluggish start to the new season.

Bayern keeps options open but has no immediate plan

“If Florian Wirtz were interested in returning to the Bundesliga at some point in the future, Bayern Munich would be the first club he would speak to,” Falk said.

Falk tempered that picture: “However, at the moment nothing is planned. Bayern has a large squad and everyone is full of confidence. Musiala has a long-term contract, and we must not forget that Vincent Kompany is trying out a new system in which Michael Olise is a key figure in the centre of the pitch – in the position he currently plays for the French national team. So Bayern has many options. Also, do not forget that Liverpool paid a large sum of money for Wirtz,” he explained.

Alongside the comments about squad balance, Falk noted that Munich has historically been willing to pay major fees when a player of the right calibre becomes available — and that the club evaluates potential moves against both sporting need and the resources already at its disposal.

For Liverpool, any decision to sell would come after weighing Wirtz’s form and the fee received; for Bayern, the possibility remains open should the circumstances align.
