Alavés run away with 3-0 win over Getafe in season opener

Deportivo Alavés opened the 2026/27 LaLiga season with a late, emphatic 3-0 home win over Getafe on 15 August 2026 at 21:45.

After a goalless first 72 minutes, Tenalja broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute to register the first goal of the 2026/27 LaLiga season.

The victory was sealed deep into stoppage time: Diaz made it 2-0 in the 90+2nd minute, and Rodriguez added a third two minutes later to make the final score 3-0.

Getafe had been forced to play with ten men from the 42nd minute following the red card shown to Kiko Femenia, which left the visitors at a clear numerical disadvantage for the remainder of the match.

The result gives Alavés an excellent start to the campaign, while it represents a disastrous opening for a Getafe side that, like their opponents, were expected to fight in the lower half of the table.

The match kicked off the new LaLiga season and provided an encouraging home statement from Alavés ahead of the weeks to come.
