Ali Ahmeti urges restraint and dialogue amid unrest in Albania
DUI leader calls on parties, institutions and demonstrators to stop violence and prioritize the national interest

Ali Ahmeti, leader of the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI), voiced strong concern about the recent unrest in Albania and urged political parties, state institutions and protesters to exercise restraint, halt violence and seek a solution through dialogue.
Appeal for calm and cross‑party commitment
Speaking after following developments in Albania, Ahmeti warned that the current moment requires exceptional care and responsibility from political actors. He called on Albania’s leaders to demonstrate maturity and wisdom and to put the national interest above partisan divides.
Ahmeti stressed that Albania is the homeland of all Albanians—both inside and outside its borders—and reminded politicians that generations sacrificed for freedom and equality. He urged the country’s political leadership to lower tensions, build channels of communication and present concrete proposals that protect institutional stability and citizens’ future.
In his statement Ahmeti appealed directly to demonstrators to avoid violence and to institutions to prioritise dialogue as the path out of the crisis. He said the moment calls for a patriotic reflection that transcends party lines and focuses on citizens’ wellbeing.
DUI, the party Ahmeti leads, represents ethnic Albanian interests in North Macedonia; his remarks come amid intensified clashes and protests across Albania that have drawn regional attention. Ahmeti’s message is aimed at reducing friction and encouraging a negotiated way forward.
