Atlético Madrid secured a narrow 1:0 win over Deportivo de La Coruña in their La Liga encounter on October 24, 2026, thanks to a second-half strike from Julián Álvarez.
Álvarez nets early in the second half
Álvarez broke the deadlock in the 48th minute after a well-worked move down the left flank. Grimaldo provided the assist, delivering the pass into the box that allowed Álvarez to finish and give Atlético the lead.
The remainder of the match became tense, with Deportivo pushing for an equaliser. In stoppage time Kevin Sánchez had a gilt-edged opportunity with an open goal in front of him, but his attempt was weak and Atlético held on.
The final score remained 1:0 (0:0), and the three points move Atlético to within two points of table leaders Barcelona. Barcelona are due to play El Clásico on Sunday night.
Atlético managed to grind out the result at home and will look to build on the victory as the season progresses.
