US tip leads to FSB arrest of minor over alleged planned attack at Tsaritsyno

Russian security services say information received from the United States resulted in the detention of a minor allegedly preparing an attack at the Tsaritsyno museum complex in Moscow.

The Federal Security Service (FSB) said it, together with the National Guard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Investigative Committee, checked the tip provided by U.S. authorities and carried out measures that led to an arrest.

According to the FSB's press center, the suspect is a minor Russian citizen who posted on the short-video platform TikTok photographs showing him dressed in camouflage clothing, wearing a balaclava, cap, goggles and headphones while holding an object resembling an automatic weapon. "He also posted photographs taken at the 'Tsaritsyno' museum complex, with the caption: 'I found a place'."

FSB thanks U.S. side, investigations continue

The FSB publicly thanked the American side for providing the information about the planned terrorist attack in Moscow and said appropriate measures are being taken. The agency previously reported receiving U.S. intelligence on preparations for an attack in the Russian capital.

The announcement recalled Russia's deadliest recent concert-hall attack: on 22 March 2024 an assault at the Crocus concert hall in Moscow killed more than 140 people. Authorities say they remain on alert while the investigation into the TikTok-linked case proceeds.
