Andrea Lekić named panelist at First Women's Handball Forum in Ohrid

Andrea Lekić will be among the speakers at the First Women's Handball Forum in Ohrid, scheduled for September 26, 2026. The Handball Federation of North Macedonia is staging the regional event and Lekić appears as one of five panelists taking part in the discussion.

Lekić brings a decorated playing career to the forum: she was named the world's best player in 2013, won a silver medal with Serbia at the World Championship that same year, and lifted the EHF Champions League trophy with Győr. Macedonian fans also remember her five seasons with Vardar, during which she played in two Champions League finals. She retired in 2025 after almost two decades at the top level and scored more than 1,000 goals in the Champions League.

From the court to management and players' representation

Her role in handball has continued beyond retirement. Lekić is the general manager for all women's national teams of Serbia, directly involved in the development of the women's representative game. In September 2026 she was also elected to the new EHF Players' Board, where players' voices are intended to influence the future of European handball.

The forum in Ohrid will take place at Sports Hall "Biljanini Izvori" on September 26, 2026, from 11:00 to 13:30. The confirmed panelists are Indira Kastratović, Andrea Lekić, Lidija Horvat, Suzana Lazović and Dragana Cvijić. Jana Serafimova will moderate the session.

Organizers say the meeting aims to bring together former and current players, coaches and administrators to discuss women's handball in the region and strengthen the network for future cooperation. The Handball Federation of North Macedonia is listed as the event organizer.
