Anima Mundi asks where Prilep's neighborhood dogs captured in September are

Anima Mundi has asked local authorities for detailed information after several familiar neighborhood dogs in Prilep disappeared following a series of captures this month. The animal-rights group warns that removing known, sterilized animals from a single location can open space for unknown, unsterilized dogs to move in.

What Anima Mundi is demanding

The organisation says concerned citizens reported that the dog Liska, kept by residents in the Tochila neighbourhood, was captured on 17 September 2026. When people went to the municipal shelter intending to adopt Liska officially, they found the cages empty and Liska was not there.

Anima Mundi has asked the public to send any photographs, CCTV footage, videos or other information to anima.mundi.sk.mk@gmail.com to help locate the animals and document what happened.

Formally, Anima Mundi has requested from JKP "Komunalec" — Prilep full records for capture and transport operations carried out between 1 and 23 September 2026. The organisation specifically seeks lists of captured animals, the precise locations and geocoordinates of captures, records of arrival at the shelter, veterinary treatment logs, and information on adoptions, returns to the field or any other outcomes.

They have named individual animals of concern: Liska, Dushko, Svetle, Simba, Belka, Poko, Noli and Sharka, and demand to know where those dogs are now.

Anima Mundi says it was informed that the Food and Veterinary Agency already carried out an extraordinary inspection, and the group has formally requested access to the inspection report and all related documentation. A freedom-of-information request has also been submitted to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to determine whether the police were officially engaged in captures or transport in Prilep between 1 and 23 September 2026 — and in particular on 17 September — who requested police assistance, whom they assisted and what official paperwork exists for those actions.

Addressing local officials, Anima Mundi has asked the mayor and the Municipality of Prilep to publicly state whether they were aware of the captures, who organised and carried them out, where the dogs were taken and where Liska, Dushko, Svetle, Simba, Belka, Poko, Noli, Sharka and other missing dogs are located today.

"Dogs are not objects. Their fate cannot be a secret," Anima Mundi said, calling for transparency about the animals' whereabouts and the official procedures followed.
