Man arrested in car trunk after Portuguese tourist killed on Ksamil beach
Albanian police found the suspect hidden in a car trunk; two Turkish citizens are accused of trying to drive him to Tirana.

Video has emerged showing the arrest of the man suspected of killing a 20-year-old Portuguese national on a beach in Ksamil, Albania.
Albanian police say they detained 29-year-old Sokrates Vata after officers found him hidden in the trunk of a car. Two Turkish nationals were driving the vehicle and, according to investigators, attempted to transport Vata to Tirana to help him flee.
Investigation widens as authorities question dozens
So far investigators have interviewed 41 people in connection with the case; 11 of those have been formally arrested on suspicion of participating in the fight or assisting the perpetrator. Authorities are also examining whether club employees and private security staff failed to report or properly respond to the incident.
According to the probe, the confrontation began inside a nightclub in the tourist complex after an argument over a woman. The Portuguese man reportedly tried to break up the altercation but was attacked by several people.
During the assault the suspect inflicted fatal wounds to the victim’s back and chest with a sharp object; the attackers then left the body on the beach. Police say Vata has an extensive criminal record and that British authorities had previously sought him on drug-related offences and for fleeing police.
