Absurdity goes viral: American couldn't believe what Serbs do mid-workout

American vlogger Christian Grossi, who regularly documents his Balkan adventures through popular videos on TikTok, was left speechless by the gastronomic offerings of our northern neighbor. After trying a traditional pljeskavica richly topped with kajmak and fresh potatoes upon the recommendation of a polite waiter, he honestly admitted that it was the most delicious thing he had tasted in his entire life. Although he did not know the exact name of this local specialty, the extraordinary taste of the creamy dairy spread and the juicy meat that reminded him of kebabs completely captivated his senses.

Amazed by the delicious but extremely caloric food, the young world traveler jokingly stated that if he continued to live in Serbia, he would certainly face serious excess weight very soon. For this exact reason, he publicly wondered how it is even possible for the local population to maintain their slim figures despite such irresistible daily meals offered at every step.

Trying to stay in good physical shape and burn off the consumed calories, Grossi visited several local fitness centers, where he experienced a real and unexpected culture shock. Instead of the usual sight of dedicated athletes drinking water and catching their breath after strenuous physical exercises, he noticed something completely different. Some of the people who were training intensely took short breaks between heavy sets just to go out on a special terrace and light a cigarette, after which they normally returned to the exercise machines.

This incredible phenomenon led the American to conclude that smoking is truly deeply rooted in the everyday life of people across the Balkans. It was absolutely incomprehensible to him how someone could run as much as six kilometers on a treadmill and immediately afterward seek nicotine instead of necessary hydration. However, he jokingly pointed out that it is exactly these absurd and comical situations that make this region so unique and special, calling the concept of a smoking room in a gym "the most Balkan thing in the world."
