Arian Ademi leaves Újpest and is set to sign for Rudeš

Arian Ademi has ended his spell with Újpest FC and is preparing to continue his career in Zagreb with NK Rudeš, the midfielder’s camp confirmed on 23.08.2026 at 20:13. The 35-year-old terminated his contract with the Hungarian side after one season and is expected to complete a move to the Croatian top‑flight club within hours.

Ademi is not bound for his old club Dinamo Zagreb despite returning to the Croatian capital. Changes in Dinamo’s structure at Maksimir have shifted the veteran midfielder’s options, and Rudeš emerged as the preferred destination for the experienced international.

Career and national-team legacy

During his long career Ademi has played for Šibenik, Dinamo Zagreb, Beijing Guoan and Újpest. As a youth player he represented Croatia, but later — following encouragement from his cousin Agim Ibraimi — he chose to play for the North Macedonia national team, where he became one of the key figures during the country’s most successful period.

On the international stage Ademi collected 33 caps and scored 4 goals for North Macedonia, including appearances at the European Championship, participation in the World Cup playoff and the memorable win over Germany in Duisburg.

The transfer from Újpest to Rudeš closes one chapter for Ademi and opens another in Zagreb, where the 35‑year‑old will aim to bring experience and leadership to his new side in the Croatian league.
