Arsène Wenger may enter race for FIFA president
Former Arsenal manager and head of global football development is being eyed as a challenger to Gianni Infantino ahead of the March 18, 2027 election.

Arsène Wenger is reportedly being considered as a potential challenger to Gianni Infantino in the race for FIFA president ahead of next year’s election.
Infantino has already announced his intention to stand in the vote scheduled for 18 March 2027. Sources say opponents of the Swiss incumbent hope to find a serious rival before the candidacy deadline of 18 November.
Possible contenders and timing
Wenger, the former Arsenal manager who now leads global football development, is among those discussed as a high-profile option capable of mounting a credible campaign against Infantino.
Meanwhile, Victor Montagliani, the president of CONCACAF who had been viewed as a potential candidate, has made clear he will not run for FIFA president because he intends to seek re-election as head of the continental confederation next year.
There is also the possibility that Prince Ali bin Al-Hussein — who ran against Infantino in 2016 — could enter the contest again, adding further uncertainty to the field ahead of the March vote.
