Arsenal complete signing of Bruno Guimarães
Brazil international Bruno Guimarães joins Arsenal from Newcastle in a deal worth about 87.5 million euros and signs until 2030.
Arsenal have officially completed the signing of Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle, the club announced on 08.08.2026 at 14:30.
The Brazil international was unveiled at Arsenal this morning and the move, reported at about 87.5 million euros, ties him to the club until 2030. Manager Mikel Arteta welcomed the arrival.
Role and squad number
Guimarães is expected to strengthen Arsenal's midfield with his physical presence and ball progression. He will wear the number 39 shirt — a number he keeps in tribute to his father, who worked as a taxi driver in Rio de Janeiro and whose official dispatcher number was 039.
The transfer concludes Guimarães' spell at Newcastle and gives Arsenal another senior option in the centre of the pitch as they prepare for the new season.
Official presentations took place in the morning, with the player introduced to fans and club staff following the completed paperwork.
Financial details put the overall fee at around 87.5 million euros and the contract runs through 2030, making Guimarães one of Arsenal's long-term midfield investments.
