Arsenal worry as Bukayo Saka could be sidelined up to two months

Arsenal have been hit by a serious injury worry after Bukayo Saka was forced off early in Tuesday's Champions League fixture against Bayern Munich, which finished 2-2. The England international withdrew in the 10th minute with a problem to his thigh muscle.

Manager Mikel Arteta summed up the mood at full-time, saying: "It doesn't look good. When a player has to leave the pitch because of sharp pain, that is never good news."

Scans to determine the recovery timeline

The club has ordered further examinations to establish how bad the injury is and how long Saka will be out. Media reports have suggested a layoff of six to eight weeks, but Arsenal have not published an official prognosis.

If that timeframe is confirmed Saka would miss a string of matches in the coming weeks, forcing Arteta to rethink his right-wing options and squad rotations for both domestic and European fixtures.

Arsenal are expected to provide an updated medical bulletin once the results of the scans are known. Until then the team and supporters face an anxious wait over the condition of one of their key players.
