Mikel Arteta furious after 3:0 loss to Brighton: "This must not happen again"
Arteta called the defeat at the Amex a major lesson after the Gunners — unbeaten in their first four matches — were beaten 3:0.

Mikel Arteta did not hide his disappointment after Arsenal’s 3:0 defeat at Brighton in the Premier League on September 19, 2026. The Gunners — who had opened the campaign with four straight wins — were overwhelmed at the Amex and produced one of their poorest displays in recent weeks.
Arteta demands immediate response
The manager conceded that Brighton were the better side and said his players failed to reach the required level in duels and in their finishing. Arteta singled out a lapse in concentration and avoidable errors in dangerous areas as decisive factors in the result.
“This must not happen again,” he said bluntly after the match, underlining that the squad must learn from the setback.
Arteta added: “This is a big lesson for us. Looking at how the team has played and performed over the last six or seven weeks, they were excellent, but today's match was a big lesson for us.”
The 3:0 loss is Arsenal’s heaviest defeat in all competitions since May 2023, when they also lost 3:0 to Brighton.
