Aston Villa and Unai Emery agree to continue partnership after 2029

Aston Villa and manager Unai Emery have reached an agreement to continue their project together beyond the expiry of Emery's current contract, which binds the Spanish coach until 2029. The development was confirmed after a working meeting held on 4 November 2026.

Club leadership outlines long-term plan

The meeting was chaired by club chairman Nasef Sawiris and attended by the club's head of football operations, Roberto Olabe, and director Damijan Vidagani. Officials discussed the club's long-term strategy and how they see Villa developing under Emery's leadership.

Those present described a clear commitment to continue the partnership when the present agreement runs out in 2029, signalling that the club does not intend to part ways with the coach who arrived in November 2022 and has markedly raised the team's level.

Discussions focused on measures to make Aston Villa more competitive domestically and in Europe, with a shared ambition to compete for the highest honours in coming seasons.

Meanwhile, Emery has been linked with the possibility of taking over Manchester United in recent speculation, but Aston Villa made their intention to keep him explicit following the meeting on 4 November 2026.
