Aston Villa sign Matteo Rudgeri and Zaion Suzuki
Aston Villa completed two incoming transfers—Matteo Rudgeri from Atlético Madrid and Zaion Suzuki from Parma—on 19.08.2026.
Aston Villa announced two new signings on 19.08.2026, strengthening their squad just before the start of the season: Matteo Rudgeri and Zaion Suzuki.
Transfers and fees
Rudgeri arrives from Atlético Madrid for €25 million plus bonuses, a deal that Villa completed to bolster their options on the flank.
Suzuki was signed from Parma for €30 million plus €5 million in potential add-ons, adding depth and competition to the squad.
Reports say Suzuki had been close to joining Paris Saint-Germain, but that move collapsed and he instead moved to Birmingham to join Aston Villa.
The double signing immediately raises questions about the status of Emiliano Martinez, who until now had been Villa’s undisputed No. 1; his position in the team becomes considerably less certain following these arrivals.
Club officials made the announcements as the team finalizes its roster ahead of the new campaign on 19.08.2026, underlining Villa’s intent to be more competitive this season.
