Endi Barnam vows to Zelensky: Britain's support for Ukraine will not change

British Prime Minister Endi Barnam welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the UK government headquarters and pledged that London’s backing for Kyiv will remain firm.

The reception included an honour guard as the two leaders met at the seat of the British government in what Barnam described as “dark and difficult days” for his country.

Barnam's pledge and Zelensky's thanks

Addressing Zelensky at the arrival, Barnam said: "You have seen the solidarity and support you have received from everyone here in Britain. We are behind you and that will not change."

Zelensky responded that he was "grateful" for the support and "very proud" that the British people have shown themselves to be, in his words, "one of the strongest partners in our history."

The meeting took place amid strained ties between Kyiv and Washington after President Donald Trump last week eased sanctions on Russian diesel, a step provoked by concerns in the United States about rising fuel prices ahead of the November midterm elections. The United Kingdom said it would "maintain the pressure on Russia" in response to news of the agreement.
