Barcelona 2-0 Athletic Bilbao — Rafinha and Fermín López secure home win
Spanish champions won 2-0 at Camp Nou with goals from Rafinha and Fermín López.
Barcelona continued their winning start to the La Liga season with a 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao in the club’s first home game at Camp Nou on August 27, 2026.
The reigning Spanish champions made few mistakes and looked every inch a side determined to defend their title. Under coach Hansi Flick, Barcelona controlled large spells of the match and threatened repeatedly in front of their supporters.
Goals and key moments
Rafinha opened the scoring in the 37th minute, setting the home side on course. The second goal arrived eight minutes before the end, when Fermín López found the net to seal the 2-0 win.
Barcelona’s performance mirrored the confidence shown in their opening fixture earlier in the week, suggesting Flick’s squad will be one of the teams to beat this season — especially at Camp Nou, where they appeared particularly hard to contain.
For Athletic Bilbao the result compounded a difficult start: after two La Liga matches this season they sit bottom, having lost both of their opening games.
