Barcelona sets €40 million asking price for Alex Balde

Barcelona has fixed a minimum price of €40 million for the sale of left-back Alex Balde in the upcoming winter transfer window, club officials have signalled.

The club is prepared to let the 23-year-old leave in January if an offer meets that valuation, with a permanent transfer the preferred outcome. Barcelona has not ruled out a loan deal that would include an obligation to buy at a later date.

Playing time and market interest

Balde has seen his minutes reduced this season: he has appeared in just four matches, none as a starter, after losing his place in the pecking order to João Cancelo and Javi Espar.

Two Premier League clubs — Manchester United and Chelsea — are reported to be interested in acquiring the left-back. Liverpool and Manchester City are also monitoring the situation, keeping track of any developments ahead of January.

The move would allow Barcelona to recoup a significant fee for a young defender who has struggled for regular game time so far in the 2026–27 campaign.
