Boris Trajkovski Pool in Skopje to close for two years – full reconstruction needed
After the storm on July 21 when the summer roof was blown off and visitors were evacuated, management announced full construction works to begin in November.
The pool within the Sports Center "Boris Trajkovski" in Skopje will be closed for two years after being temporarily closed following the storm that hit the city on July 21. During the storm the pool's summer roof was blown off and parts fell into the swimming lanes where there were visitors at the time, after which an evacuation was carried out.
The pool's director said it will not be reopened until the complete reconstruction is finished. "The pool was in poor condition even before the storm and needed urgent repairs. After the storm the roof was blown off and now we will not carry out any interventions only on the roof, but it will be closed until it is fully renovated. The design is ready and in the coming period we will announce a tender for a contractor. We expect construction work to begin in November. It will be reconstructed from the foundation, from the mechanical room to the roof," says Apostolovski.

Apostolovski pointed out that the project documentation is ready and that a tender for a contractor will be announced in the coming period. According to him, construction work is expected to begin in November and will include a systematic overhaul of the entire building structure.
It was emphasized that not only a local repair of the roof is planned, but a complete renovation of the pool, including the mechanical room and other technical facilities. Management stressed that the facility had been in poor condition even before the storm and required urgent repairs.
During the reconstruction, which is estimated to last around two years, visitors will have to use other swimming facilities until the "Boris Trajkovski" pool is reopened.
