Blagica Vladimirovska and Ema Lazareska completed a concentrated mountaineering challenge on the Šar Mountains, climbing 35 summits over four days as part of activities marking 35 years of Macedonia's independence.

Their route began at the Ljuboten peak and finished on Rudoka. Moving at a brisk pace, the two covered a total of 110 kilometres and overcame 8,400 metres of cumulative ascent during the four-day effort.

Daily rhythm and numbers

According to the participants' account, their pace was particularly intense during the opening days: on the first two days they reached 11 peaks per day. The itinerary combined long approaches with repeated ascents and descents across the Šar ridge.

Vladimirovska reflected on the experience, saying: "You forget all the pains and difficulties when you see before you the beauties of our Šar, the sunrises and sunsets and all the beauty of our Macedonia. This feat once again showed us that every goal is achievable when you have a clear vision, determination, perseverance, discipline and love for what you do."

The two women described the undertaking as both a physical test and an opportunity to highlight the landscape of the Šar Mountains on the occasion of the country's 35th independence anniversary.
