Nepal flood deaths reach 1,204

The death toll from the devastating floods in Nepal has risen to 1,204, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Authority reported.

About 4,200 people remain listed as missing, while nearly 12,000 have been rescued so far.

Response and rescue operations

The floods struck northern Nepal on 26 August and the disaster triggered a landslide close to the border with China, compounding the humanitarian emergency.

Rescue teams and local authorities have been carrying out search-and-rescue efforts across affected districts, focusing on locating missing people and evacuating isolated communities.

Officials say the scale of the losses and displacement is significant as recovery and relief operations continue.
