Bruno Fernandes says Portugal can now convert chances after 4–2 win over Denmark
Bruno Fernandes praised Portugal's improved finishing after the 4–2 win in Copenhagen and said the Nations League is a chance to prove their quality.

Portugal took a big step in the UEFA Nations League on 2 October 2026, beating Denmark 4:2 in Copenhagen in a match that underlined their attacking intent under coach Jorge Jesus. Bruno Fernandes was one of the side's most influential players and spoke afterwards about a visible improvement in the team's finishing.
"It's good that now we can create chances and actually turn them into goals."
Fernandes highlighted the difference in the final third and said the team is happier when chances are converted. Fans quickly reacted to his words, with many reading them as a thinly veiled message to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Reflecting on Portugal's recent low point at the World Cup, Fernandes admitted the squad paid the price for shortcomings in attack. "We had a bad World Cup because of our approach in attack. There were moments when we created chances but we failed to take them, and at this level you are punished for that," he said.
He framed the Nations League as an opportunity to regain status: "The Nations League is a way to show that we are still the team we once were," Fernandes added, noting that the squad remains aware of external expectations but confident in its quality.
Still, he insisted that quality alone is not enough. "Now the most important thing is to turn that quality into results. We must be more aggressive, more concrete and have more confidence when we reach the final third of the pitch," Fernandes said, underlining the team's focus on tangible progress.
Fernandes closed by calling the victory another step in the rebuilding process. "Every match is an opportunity to improve, and Denmark gave us another chance to prove that we are learning," he concluded.
