Up to 30-minute waits at Tabanovce and Bogorodica as traffic rises on national roads
AMSM reports increased traffic outside urban areas and warns drivers about landslide risks on several routes.
Traffic on North Macedonia's state roads is moving without major disruptions and the carriageways are dry, but authorities report a noticeable increase in vehicle volumes outside urban areas.
At the Tabanovce border crossing the waiting time to enter the country is around 30 minutes, while at the Bogorodica crossing the wait to exit the country is around 30 minutes. Other border crossings on the Macedonian side currently do not have longer delays for entry or exit.
Safety advice for drivers
The Automobile and Motorcycle Association of North Macedonia (AMSM) urges drivers to adjust their speed, obey traffic signs and handle vehicles with extra caution, particularly on roads that run through basins, river valleys and gorges where there is a risk of rockfalls.
AMSM singles out several stretches where the danger of landslides or falling debris is higher: Katlanovo–Veles, Mavrovo–Debar–Struga, Vinica–Berovo and Kochani–Delchevo. Drivers using these routes should reduce speed and keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.
Motorists are advised to plan for slightly longer travel times at the two busy border crossings and to follow on-site traffic directions and any updates from road authorities.
