Chelsea Targets John Stones: English Veteran Nears Move to London

London's Chelsea is seriously considering the possibility of bringing the experienced English international John Stones into their ranks. After his contract with Manchester City expired, the 32-year-old defender is available on the free market, which has sparked significant interest among several European giants. According to information from the BBC, Italian side Inter is also involved in the race for his signature, but the team from Stamford Bridge is determined to strengthen their defensive line with this exact player.

Parallel to the attempts to sign Stones, Chelsea's management is working on other options to solidify their defense. Negotiations are underway for the transfer of Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace, while the situation surrounding Como's talented centre-back Jacobo Ramón is being closely monitored. This strategy clearly shows that the club is planning a complete reconstruction of the backline ahead of the new challenges.

To make room for the new additions, the London club is intensively working on selling some of their current defenders. Trevoh Chalobah is already negotiating a move to Italian top-tier side Como. At the same time, the management is ready to listen to offers for Axel Disasi and Benoît Badiashile, who are evidently not in the coaching staff's long-term plans.

John Stones leaves behind a brilliant era at Manchester City, where he spent nine full seasons. He became part of the team in 2016 when he was acquired from Everton for a fee of £47.5 million. During his time with the Citizens, he made 295 appearances and built an impressive portfolio of trophies. His collection includes six Premier League titles, one Champions League trophy, two FA Cups, five League Cup trophies, three Community Shield honors, as well as titles from the Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.

On the international stage, Stones is one of England's most regular players with a total of 93 appearances in the national jersey. His vast experience from playing at the highest level, including successes at the World Cups, would represent a valuable reinforcement for any team with high ambitions in the upcoming season.
