Four women accused Jared Leto of sexual assaults while they were minors

Four women have accused Oscar winner and frontman of Thirty Seconds to Mars, Jared Leto, of a criminal sexual offense, alleging that the incidents, as presented in the documentary "Jared Leto — The Dark Secret of Hollywood," occurred while they were teenagers.

What the accusers say

One of the women says she was sexually assaulted in a motel bathroom when she was 17. Another states that Leto threatened her with sexual assault when she was 19, after she unexpectedly found herself alone with him in a hotel room.

A third woman describes having sexual intercourse with the star in California while she was a minor, at age 17; according to her statement, under that state’s law this is classified as rape because of the victim’s age. She says Leto disregarded the discussion that the age of consent is 18.

The fourth woman recounts how Leto groomed her for sexual activity, alleging that he abused his fame and made multiple sexually explicit phone calls to her while she was 16; she claims that, on at least one occasion, he suggested they have sex. She later received a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), which she refused to sign.

Additionally, four other women allege that when they were younger they received strange, and often explicitly sexual, phone calls from Jared Leto.

The events are presented in the documentary, and in this story we reproduce the women's accounts; there is no additional information about whether these allegations have resulted in criminal complaints in the public sources shown in the film. Jared Leto is known as an Oscar winner and as the frontman of Thirty Seconds to Mars.
