"A Man Who Has Worked for Foreign Services for Decades": Grave Accusations That Latas Runs the Dirtiest Propaganda in the Country

At an SDSM press conference, Keti Sterjova of SDSM leveled some of the heaviest accusations ever made publicly against media figure Dragan Pavlovic Latas — that he has worked for foreign services for decades and that he is the one running the dirtiest propaganda in the country today.

"Latas, the man who has worked for foreign services for decades, today freely runs the dirtiest propaganda in the country," Sterjova told reporters, placing Latas at the very center of her attack on the ruling establishment.

According to her, young people are leaving the country because they do not want to be part of the future being crafted by Latas and VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski. "They do not want to be part of a future that Dragan Pavlovic Latas and Mickoski are tailoring for them," she said.

Sterjova went a step further, pointing to what she called Latas's hypocrisy — while selling young people a narrative of an isolated Macedonia, his own family long ago secured a European future. "His family has a secured European future, Bulgarian passports, while he sells the youth the idea that Macedonia should be the blind appendix of the Balkans and Europe," she charged.

The most direct blow concerned wealth. According to Sterjova, Latas has been enriching himself with citizens' money for years — "first through Gruevski and Mijalkov, and now directly through Mickoski. Property, money."

"Young people do not want to live in Latas's Macedonia. They do not want to live in a country where criminals and media manipulators are protected," Sterjova concluded, stressing that ordinary citizens are left to fend for themselves while those close to power enjoy protection.

The allegations of ties to foreign services, if pursued institutionally, would raise serious security questions. As of now, no response to the claims has been issued by Latas or by VMRO-DPMNE.
