Real Madrid have reportedly moved to secure long-term futures for Aurelien Tchouameni and Arda Guler as José Mourinho prepares to rebuild the squad around a new core. Spanish reports say both players will sign contracts that run until 2031.

The club have struggled for form while rivals in Catalonia, notably Barcelona, have drawn most of the attention with better results. Real are described as being in a crisis and Mourinho was brought in as a remedial measure.

Squad planning under Mourinho

According to the coverage, Mourinho is determined to establish a dependable group of players he can rely on going forward. The Portuguese coach has signalled his intent by prioritising Tchouameni and Guler as two pillars for the side.

Both internationals — Tchouameni from France and Guler from Turkey — are expected to put pen to paper on new deals extending to 2031, a move that underlines Mourinho's desire to create stability in selection.

By tying the two youngsters to long contracts Mourinho is making clear that they will play a central role in his plans and in the reconstruction of the team. The reports add that the coach intends to build his "first XI" around them as he attempts to reverse the club's recent slide.
