Cystic fibrosis: Patients on therapy increased from 3 to 126 over two decades
Coverage grew from 3 to 126 patients over two decades; this year children aged 2–11 were added and a modern therapy is expected in 2027.

Over the last two decades the number of people with cystic fibrosis covered by therapy in the country rose sharply, from 3 to 126 patients.
This year the therapeutic programme was expanded to include children aged 2 to 11 with various genetic mutations, broadening access for younger patients.
Modern therapy expected in 2027
The Ministry of Health announced that a modern therapy for cystic fibrosis will become available in 2027. Officials describe the move as an important step in treatment, particularly for the youngest patients.
For affected families and patients, the new treatment options are not only about clinical benefit but also about slowing disease progression and easing daily life with fewer limitations.
Medical teams and families say the expansion of therapy coverage and the arrival of newer medicines raise hopes that long-term outcomes and quality of life for people with cystic fibrosis will improve in the coming years.
