CCM: Two active fires — landfill burning in Vizbegovo and forest near Mavrovo and Rostuse

The Center for Crisis Management (CCM) reported in its morning update that two fires remained active across the country as of 07:30. In the previous 24 hours authorities registered a total of 27 open‑space fires: three are under control and 22 have been extinguished.

Active blazes in Mavrovo and Vizbegovo

According to the CCM, one active fire is burning in the municipality of Mavrovo and Rostuse, at the site known as Golem Brdash, where forest stands are affected. The second active fire is in the Skopje municipality of Shuto Orizari, near Vizbegovo, behind the "New Star" hotel; there the CCM says a landfill has been set alight.

Fires listed as under control include an incident in the municipality of Zelenikovo above the village of Paligrad, one in the municipality of Saraj near the village of Kopanica, and several near the municipality of Struga by the villages Piskupstina, Burinec and Lokov.

Extinguished fires occurred in multiple municipalities and involved a variety of fuels: low‑growing trees and pine forest, low vegetation, Canadian poplars, hay bales, shrubs and landfills.

Emergency services continue to monitor the active locations and maintain containment efforts at the fires that are under control. Authorities reminded citizens to avoid open flame and to report any new outbreaks immediately.
