CCM: Fire near Cerovo being monitored; all available teams deployed

The Center for Crisis Management (CCM) and the Territorial Firefighting Unit (TPPE) in Tetovo said firefighting crews are working intensively to contain a blaze in the area around the village of Cerovo.

Local commanders on site, teams operating at full capacity

On the ground, CCM director Muhamed Ali and the commander of TPPE Tetovo, Avni Ahmeti, are coordinating the operation to stop further spread of the fire, officials said.

CCM reported that firefighting teams are deployed at maximum capacity with the objective of bringing the fire under control as quickly as possible and preventing it from affecting a larger area.

Because of an elevated risk of wildfires, the center issued an appeal to residents and visitors to exercise increased caution and behave responsibly when in open areas.

In an afternoon update CCM said that out of 14 open-space fires, eight remained active. In their report it was stated that the fire near the village of Cerovo was extinguished.

Authorities said they will continue to monitor the situation closely and keep available teams ready to respond to any new flare-ups.
