Center for Crisis Management: 11 fires on open ground — one under control near Belica, 10 extinguished

The Center for Crisis Management (Center) reported that 11 fires in open areas were registered during the past 24 hours, and as of this morning at 7:30 a.m. none remained active.

Of the recorded incidents, the Center said, ten have been extinguished and one fire remains under control.

The blaze under control is located near the village of Belica in the Municipality of Macedonski Brod, at a site known as Kajorec, where low-stature and mixed forest are burning. The fire has been active for several days.

Large ground operation on Saturday

Authorities say that on Saturday more than 60 people worked simultaneously from the directions of Skopje and Macedonski Brod to bring the Belica fire under control. The operation included teams from the public enterprise "Jasen" and units of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue (DPR) equipped with Pinzgauer field vehicles.

The extinguished fires were recorded across several parts of the country and involved low vegetation, stubble and refuse, the Center added. Monitoring and readiness remain in place in case conditions change.
