CCM: 19 open‑area fires registered by 18:00, five still active

Five fires remain active while three are under control and eleven have been extinguished, CCM says.

CCM: 19 open‑area fires registered by 18:00, five still active

The Center for Crisis Management (CCM) reported that 19 open-space fires were recorded today up to 18:00. Of those, five remained active, three were listed as under control and 11 were fully extinguished.

Fires still burning and areas now under control

Active blazes were reported in the municipalities of Studenichani and Zelenikovo: flames are spreading from the villages of Morane, Vrtekica and Ramni Gaber toward the spur leading to the village of Paligrad, and above the village of Vrazhale in Zelenikovo, where mixed forest is burning.

Within Zelenikovo municipality a separate active fire is burning near the village of Tisovica, affecting mixed forest and low vegetation. Another active fire was registered above the village of Nezhilovo in the municipality of Chaska, in the locality known as Svatovi, where low vegetation and spruce trees are on fire.

An additional active fire is burning near the village of Trnovo in the municipality of Gostivar; that fire is advancing toward the villages of Bitovo, Zagrad and Strajane in Makedonski Brod municipality and is consuming low-stem forest, low vegetation, pastures and bracken. The landfill fire in Novo Selo municipality was also reported as active.

Fires under control include the blaze near the village of Tajmishte in the Darda locality, Kicevo municipality, where high-stem beech forest is burning, as well as fires at the city landfill "Melci" in Kavadarci and at the landfill in Delchevo where garbage is burning.

During the day authorities extinguished 11 fires. Extinguished incidents included the fires in the village of Zhelino (low vegetation, fields and bushes) and in the village of Strimnica (low vegetation) in Zhelino municipality, and the fire in Odri, Tearce municipality.

In Makedonski Brod a fire between the Jasen reserve and the village of Breznica was put out; that blaze affected low vegetation and pine forest. In Kicevo the fire in the village of Zajas that burned low vegetation was extinguished.

Delchevo municipality saw two fires extinguished: in the village of Vetren, where low vegetation and mixed forest burned, and in the village of Bigla, where stored leather at the Godel tannery caught fire. Other fires put out during the day were near the village of Vinichani (Gradsko municipality), in Forino (Gostivar municipality) and in the village of Manastirec (Rosoman municipality), where vineyards and fruit orchards burned, as well as a blaze in Rosoman that affected low vegetation.
