Is this the end for Carrick? United held 1-1 at Leeds as Brighton thrash Palace 5-0

Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw at Leeds in a 7th-round Premier League match on 18 October 2026, deepening the pressure on manager Michael Carrick after another dropped result.

Mbeumo put the visitors ahead in the 35th minute, but Leeds levelled at the start of the second half to secure a point. The draw is United's fourth of the season under Carrick, alongside one win and two defeats.

Is Carrick's tenure under threat?

With that record, Manchester United sit on just 7 points and occupy 3rd place on the table — a position that offers little comfort given the club's expectations. Questions are mounting over whether this run of results marks the end of Carrick's time in charge.

Brighton, meanwhile, continued their dominant run at home by routing Crystal Palace 5-0 on the same afternoon. The scoreline came via an own goal by Kanvot, followed by strikes from Gomez, Ajari, Kostulas and Hinshenwold. Brighton now sit 2nd in the table, but have played one more match than Arsenal.

Bournemouth recorded a 2-0 victory over Sunderland thanks to goals from Tavernie and Evanilson.
