Dario Ivanovski finished seventh in the men's 10,000 metres at the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto, closing a competitive race in under 30 minutes.
Ivanovski, North Macedonia's most accomplished distance runner, recorded a time of 29:58.82 and finished ahead of three rivals in the field. His appearance in Taranto capped a season in which he set a new national record over 10,000 metres.
Podium and winning time
Gold went to Said Ameri of Algeria, who ran a personal best of 28:31.26. The silver and bronze medals were claimed by Morocco’s Mustafa Akaoui and Houcham Oulad, respectively.
The race brought together a strong cluster of Mediterranean long-distance specialists, and Ivanovski’s sub-30 performance confirmed his status as one of the region’s consistent competitors despite landing outside the medal places.
Ivanovski and the North Macedonian athletics delegation will now evaluate the remainder of the season and plan for upcoming national and regional events following the Mediterranean Games in Taranto.
