Darko Dimitrijević to remain head coach of Badel 1862

Badel 1862 confirmed on 07.08.2026 that Darko Dimitrijević will remain head coach for the coming season, keeping the coach who led the team to an unexpected run to the playoff final.

Club values stability after breakthrough season

Dimitrijević guided Badel 1862 through a campaign that exceeded expectations: despite roster problems during the season, the team fought to the end and reached the championship final. On the way there, they eliminated the defending champion, Basket Kam, in the semifinals.

In its announcement the club praised Dimitrijević’s work and character and underlined that his approach was key to the team’s progress.

"To our great satisfaction, Badel 1862 and Darko Dimitrijević have extended their cooperation for the next season.

Dimitrijević has had an excellent season on the bench of Badel 1862. Despite the player problems we faced during last season, he managed to build a team that fought until the very end and reached the final.

On the way to the final, Badel 1862 managed to eliminate higher-quality and more experienced opponents, showing that with the right approach, fighting spirit and belief in the team a lot can be achieved.

His dedication, knowledge and attitude towards the team are of great importance to us and therefore we are particularly pleased to continue together.

We believe that next season will bring many beautiful moments and many reasons to celebrate," the statement from Badel 1862 reads.
