Darko Pančev donates 1990/91 "Golden Boot" to Red Star museum

On October 1, 2026, Darko Pančev handed over his 1990/91 European Golden Boot to the museum of Red Star Belgrade, the club announced. The trophy recognizes Pančev as Europe's top scorer that season with 34 goals.

Pančev's award, earned during the 1990/91 campaign, had been requested by club representatives to serve as a model for a replica. Instead of supplying a copy, the former striker decided to donate the original piece to the club's museum.

When explaining his decision, Pančev stressed the collective nature of the achievement. He said: "The Golden Boot is not only my personal achievement, it is the achievement of the entire club in that season when the Macedonian was the most important part of Red Star's fantastic success, when this club was European and world champion."

The trophy's arrival completes a tangible link between that successful generation and the present-day Red Star, which the club highlights as both a former European and world champion and the current champion of Serbia.

Museum staff said the Boot will be displayed among other items from Red Star's golden era, where visitors can see the original award that symbolized Pančev's leading role in the title-winning season.
