Darko Sokolov starts 25th professional season with Feniks
The 40-year-old guard joins Feniks for his 25th professional season, marking the 14th club of his career.
Darko Sokolov will open his 25th season as a professional basketball player at the age of 40, signing to play for Feniks in the Macedonian First League. The announcement was made on 13.09.2026, as the veteran guard prepares for another campaign in domestic competition.
Career milestones
Sokolov made his senior debut as a 15-year-old for Balkan Stil in the 2001/02 season and has since built a long trophy-laden career. He spent the most significant part of his career with EuroNickel, where he won two national championships, lifted the Macedonian Cup and helped the Kavadarci side capture the BIBL title. He was named MVP of the competition in the 2010/11 season.
Beyond his success at EuroNickel, Sokolov collected a double crown with MZT Skopje and won the Macedonian Cup with Rabotnicki and Karpoš Sokoli. He also celebrated a Super Cup triumph while playing for Strumica.
During his long career he also wore the jerseys of Vardar, Centar, Polo Trejd and AMAK SP. Sokolov had two stints abroad, representing Bosna in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ukrainian side Khimik.
Sokolov was a member of the North Macedonia national team that achieved a historic fourth place at EuroBasket 2011, part of one of the most successful generations in the country’s basketball history.
Feniks will be the 14th club in Sokolov’s career as he embarks on this latest challenge — his 25th professional season in 2026/27.
