Dejan Georgievski opened his campaign at MI 2026 in Taranto with a victory, beating Motaz Ifaui of Tunisia 2:1 in the over-80 kg taekwondo division.
Results
The bout went the distance and proved physically demanding; Georgievski managed to turn the fight in his favour in the third round, when he produced the decisive action that secured the 2:1 win.
Georgievski’s win gives him a strong start in the heavyweight class and keeps him among the contenders for a medal at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto.
In the under-80 kg category, Filip Blazhevski was defeated 0:2 by Nedzad Husic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ending his opening match prematurely.
Both results shape North Macedonia’s early standing in taekwondo at MI 2026; the competition in Taranto continues as athletes advance through the bracket and hunt for podium places.
