Parts of Debar face drinking-water shortages; JKP "Standard" urges rational use
The municipal utility says restrictions introduced in July have been extended in some areas as supply problems deepen.
Parts of Debar are experiencing shortages in drinking water supply, and the local public utility has urged residents to restrict water use to essential needs only as the situation worsens.
Public Communal Enterprise "Standard" from Debar said its teams are working continuously to stabilise supply but asked citizens for immediate cooperation. "We fully understand the dissatisfaction and difficulties this situation causes, but we all must help in this situation. From July 1 we introduced four, and then five-hour restrictions in the neighborhoods Venec 1, Venec 2, Taranik and Kjernanica, but the problem is becoming more serious, because in parts of the city there is no water for more hours, especially on the upper floors of residential buildings," the company said.
Measures and recommendations
The utility emphasised that any water use that is not essential will be considered misuse and appealed to residents to avoid activities that consume large volumes of water.
Specifically, the company asked people not to use water for irrigation, filling swimming pools, or washing yards and sidewalks. It added that every litre saved helps more families have access to drinking water during this period.
JKP "Standard" said its crews continue to carry out repairs and other measures aimed at quickly improving the situation, and urged patience and solidarity among inhabitants while work is ongoing.
