Thessaloniki ring road partially closed tonight; drivers to Halkidiki will be diverted
Partial night-time closure of the ring road on 24 August (23:00–05:00) will affect traffic from Evzoni toward Halkidiki; the opposite direction remains open.

Part of the Thessaloniki ring road will be closed to traffic on Monday, 24 August 2026 between 23:00 and 05:00 the following morning, authorities announced.
The temporary closure affects drivers travelling from the direction of North Macedonia and the Evzoni border crossing toward Halkidiki. The restriction is limited to the carriageway heading into Halkidiki.
Traffic flow and diversions
Traffic in the opposite direction — from Halkidiki toward Evzoni — will continue to flow normally and that side of the ring road will remain open during the works. Vehicles bound for Halkidiki will be redirected through Thessaloniki city streets while the maintenance work is under way.
Motorists planning trips within the affected hours are urged to allow extra travel time, follow temporary signage and directions from traffic controllers, and adjust their routes in advance to avoid delays.
Given the late-night timing and the route's importance for holiday travel to Halkidiki, drivers should prepare for congestion on alternative city roads and consider travelling outside the stated closure window where possible.
