Nineteen open‑space fires recorded by 6 p.m.; five remain active
Center for Crisis Management: 19 open‑space fires recorded by 6:00 p.m.; five still active, three under control, 11 extinguished.
By 6:00 p.m. today authorities recorded a total of 19 open‑space fires across North Macedonia: five remained active, three were listed as under control, and 11 had been extinguished.
Active blazes concentrated near Skopje and in the west
The Center for Crisis Management (CCM) reported active fires in the municipalities of Studeničani and Zelenikovo. Flames are moving from the villages of Morane, Vrtekica and Ramni Gaber toward the spur that leads to the village of Paligrad, while above the village of Vrazhale in Zelenikovo a mixed forest is burning.
Another active fire was recorded near the village of Trnovo in the municipality of Gostivar. That fire is spreading toward the villages of Bitovo, Zagrad and Strajane in the municipality of Macedonski Brod, consuming low‑stem forest, low vegetation, pastures and ferns.
In Zelenikovo, an active fire was also reported at the village of Tisovica, burning mixed forest and low vegetation. Above the village of Nezhilovo in the municipality of Čaška — in the area known as Svatovi — crews are battling a fire affecting low vegetation and spruce trees.
In the municipality of Novo Selo a fire remains active at the Novo Selo landfill.
Fires listed as under control include one near the village of Tajmište, in the Darda area of Kičevo municipality, where high‑stem beech forest is burning, as well as fires at the city landfill "Melci" in Kavadarci and at the Delčevo landfill, where waste is on fire.
During the day crews extinguished 11 separate fires. Those included blazes in the municipality of Želino — in the villages of Želino (low vegetation, stubble and shrubs) and Strimnica (low vegetation) — and a fire in the village of Odri in the municipality of Tearce. In Macedonski Brod a fire between the Jasen reserve and the village of Breznica (low vegetation and pine) was put out, and in Kičevo the fire in the village of Zajas (low vegetation) was extinguished.
In Delčevo extinguished fires included the village of Vetren (low vegetation and mixed forest) and the village of Bigla, where cured leather at the "Godel" tannery was burning. Crews also put out fires in the village of Vinichani (municipality of Gradsko), the village of Forino (municipality of Gostivar), and in the village and municipality of Rosoman, where vineyards, orchards and low vegetation had burned.
